Continuing our mission of delivering cutting-edge support for enterprise-level WordPress development, we’re excited to announce the release of Altis Cloud v20!
In this release, we’re introducing experimental support for PHP 8.3, as well as an update to WordPress 6.6, and enhanced Altis Dev Tools. Let’s dive in and explore how the latest Altis Cloud release can help elevate your enterprise platform.
WordPress 6.6: Improved performance and developer flexibility
Altis Cloud v20 integrates WordPress 6.6, packed with significant performance, accessibility, and developer-focused improvements. This version brings new updates to the block editor (Gutenberg), the block API, and further refinements to the Options API, offering developers even greater flexibility to fine-tune application performance.
For theme developers, the theming system has been enhanced with new features designed to streamline design workflows and improve the overall user experience. WordPress 6.6 also introduces several modern coding standards, including the deprecation of support for PHP 7.0 and 7.1, though Altis users need not worry—our platform doesn’t support these versions, so there’s no impact on existing sites.
With numerous filter and action hooks added, developers can take advantage of the improved performance and streamlined workflows WordPress 6.6 has to offer. For more details, explore the WordPress 6.6 Field Guide.
Experimenting with PHP 8.3
In addition to the WordPress upgrade, Altis Cloud v20 adds experimental support for PHP 8.3. While this is not yet recommended for production environments, we encourage developers to test their code in Local Server with PHP 8.3 and share feedback with our team. We remain committed to supporting the latest technologies while ensuring your code runs efficiently across different PHP versions.
Enhanced dev tools: wp-browser 4 and Codeception 5
The latest release of Altis Dev Tools includes upgrades to wp-browser 4 and Codeception 5, offering full compatibility with PHP 8+. These updates improve testing workflows and support more complex testing environments, ensuring your applications remain robust and scalable. Additionally, Local Server now integrates with TablePlus and Sequel Ace, simplifying database management.
What’s next for Altis Cloud?
Altis Cloud v20 underscores our commitment to delivering scalable, developer-friendly tools that meet the evolving demands of modern web development. With experimental PHP 8.3, we’re committed to empowering developers for the future.
